Power is always top of mind on any boat and our focus is to reduce our ecological footprint as much as possible. 3 x 395 Watt solar panels on Gargoyle are the main energy source that keep her systems operational and crew comfortable. Every year these panels produce approximately 1,350,000 Watts.

Gargoyle is a Pacific Northwest boat, with a full furnace ready for the cold winters and chilly summer nights. When we sailed into the tropics, we knew immediately fans were a necessity however we did not want to wire in fans throughout the boat.

These rechargeable fans from OPolar are amazing and have rescued the crew from many hot days and nights. The great thing is we can move them throughout the boat and easily move the cool air where it is needed at the time.

A great addition to any boat or yacht!

Kindles - we spends hours at anchor and watch reading. It is so handy to have 5-10 books in the palm of your hand and not crammed somewhere getting damp and moldy. This is a must for any cruiser. Plus it allows us an imaginary place to escape when we live in 250 square feet!

Canon Printer.jpg

A printer? This is a must for any cruiser, you will find as you check into countries they will require copy, after copy, of your registration, passports, ZARPE and the list goes on and on. This Canon Ip110 is completely wireless and also has a great phone app to assist in printing. Copies of all our documents are saved on our phones and computers to ensure we can print them easily when required.

Dyson Cropped.png

When you live aboard your boat with two cats you had definitely better have a good handheld vacuum cleaner. Our Dyson has been with us now for 5 years and we swear by it. Yes, you have to be quick to vacuum the entire boat but it makes short work of a little cat litter scatter several times a day.

IridiumGo.jpg

For an offshore boat, communications are essential for weather during passage making. Adding a SSB radio was going to be an expensive venture on Gargoyle. We opted for an IridiumGo unit and Iridium Satellite phone for backup. The Iridium system has worked seamlessly for the past two years tracking our progress, downloading weather and reaching out to our family and friends during passages.
